Schloss Bückeburg

The castle and the castle island – first mentioned in 1304 – were a regular stronghold in the 18th century.  Since then, the complex has developed into a stately mansion in its present form of a renaissance castle, including the largest privately owned mausoleum worldwide.
A wide moat surrounds the former residence, which is the seat of the royal family of Schaumburg-Lippe to this day.
The preciously furnished rooms of the castle are shown as part of individual guided tours.  You will experience a journey through time of seven centuries and delight in the artistic taste of previous generations. Concerts, conferences and exhibitions are all part of the event programme.
